Archaeologist (On Call) Job Description

As an On-Call Archaeologist, you'll play a vital role in our Environmental Services Cultural Resources Team, supporting a wide range of projects across California.

Your Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with field directors and project managers to plan and execute archaeological fieldwork, including surveys, excavations, and monitoring.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments, identify and record cultural resources, and provide recommendations for management and mitigation.
  • Work closely with a Field Director/Supervisor to develop and implement effective cultural resources management strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation of archaeological impact assessments and reports.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community groups.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of CRM field experience, with a focus on California archaeology.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Anthropology or Archaeology from an accredited university.
  • Completed archaeological field school or equivalent training.
  • Strong knowledge of California and/or Great Basin archaeology.
  • Experience working on both small and large archaeological crews.
  • Familiarity with digital field applications, such as Survey123 and Field Maps.
  • Proficient in Trimble sub-meter GPS unit or equivalent, and associated software.
