Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Firefighter/Paramedic to join our team at the City of South Pasadena Fire Department. As a Firefighter/Paramedic, you will be responsible for providing emergency medical services, fighting fires, and performing rescue operations. You will also be required to train, drill, and work in fire suppression and fire prevention activities, repair and maintain fire apparatus and equipment, and prepare reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls to provide basic and advanced life support services
  • Participate in fire suppression and rescue operations
  • Train and drill in fire suppression and fire prevention activities
  • Repair and maintain fire apparatus and equipment
  • Prepare reports and maintain records
Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be currently employed full-time by a paid, professional fire department or district
  • Have a minimum of 6 months of firefighter/paramedic experience
  • Be a paramedic certified by the State of California and the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have 2 years of firefighter/paramedic experience
  • Have a Firefighter "F" Endorsement as issued by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles
Working Conditions

As a Firefighter/Paramedic, you will be required to work in extreme conditions that require excellent physical conditioning. You will be exposed to extreme heat, flammable liquids, hazardous gases, smoke, explosions, chemicals, electrical hazards, faulty structures, inclement weather, and communicable diseases.

Physical Demands

The position requires heavy lifting and/or dragging of heavy weight, carrying, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, running, jumping, twisting, and other forms of moderate to extreme physical exertion.
