Job Summary

Polk County Local Government, NC is seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our team. As a Paramedic, you will respond to select medical and traumatic emergencies, providing emergency medical care at the scene, en route to the hospital, and during transportation from facility-to-facility. You will also deliver patients to the nearest most appropriate medical facility, adhering to local, regional, and state guidelines regarding patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergencies and non-emergencies using appropriate care and caution in accordance with North Carolina law, EMS regulations, local policy, and the principles of safe emergency vehicle operation.
  • Provide emergency medical care in accordance with the rules, regulations, protocols, policies, and procedures of Polk County EMS, the State of North Carolina Office of NCOEMS, consistent with good judgment and the provision of high-quality medical care.
  • Deliver patients to the nearest most appropriate medical facility, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Perform daily inspections of the vehicle and equipment, ensuring they are ready for use at the beginning of the shift and after every call.
  • Document all patient care and interactions, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Participate in public relations and community education programs sponsored by Polk County EMS, promoting the importance of emergency medical services.
  • Stay up-to-date with continuing education courses, maintaining certification in CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support.
Requirements
  • Currently credentialed as a Paramedic by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS).
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support or equivalent.
  • Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support or equivalent.
  • Current certification in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or equivalent.
  • Current Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Successful pre-employment drug screen.
  • Successful criminal background check.
Working Conditions

The Paramedic will work in a fast-paced emergency medical services environment, responding to emergencies and non-emergencies in a variety of settings. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly and concisely, and maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity.
