Job Title: Laborer

Join the City of Hayward, CA team as a Laborer and contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of our city's infrastructure.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and physically fit Laborer to join our team. As a Laborer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to street maintenance, utility work, and groundskeeping. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and contribute to the well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain public grounds and property, including pulling weeds, removing debris, and repairing barricades.
  • Assist in the repair of broken sewer, water, and irrigation lines.
  • Operate equipment such as tractors, mowers, and concrete saws.
  • Clean streets and roadsides, including sweeping, clearing, and cleaning gutters, curbs, and catch basins.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of City streets, including preparing surfaces for cold patching and paving.
  • Perform other related tasks as necessary.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Class C California Driver's License required.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and stoop for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
