SUMMARY:
The Press Operator is responsible for operating machinery in accordance with established standards and requirements. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient production of high-quality components.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate multiple presses with various cavity molds.
- Interpret and execute process sheets to ensure proper mold operation.
- Notify supervisors of any discrepancies found in process documentation.
- Identify and report any changes or discrepancies in work instructions.
- Conduct safety inspections of the work area and equipment, reporting hazards to the Supervisor.
- Utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Prepare the work area before startup, ensuring all necessary materials are available.
- Utilize the specified weight of rubber for each production cycle.
- Complete necessary documentation including production tags and travel tickets.
- Aim for optimal efficiency and productivity in all tasks.
- Perform quality audits on parts during production.
- Make adjustments to processes as needed to enhance product quality.
- Seek assistance when unable to resolve issues independently, striving for zero defects.
- Report any damaged molds to the Supervisor immediately.
- Collaborate with the Tugger Operator as necessary.
- Adhere to 5S standards and practices.
- Follow established standard work procedures.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
ADDITIONAL PRESS OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate presses and molds with a focus on efficiency and productivity.
- Contribute positively as a team member.
- Engage in team meetings to collaboratively address challenges.
- Demonstrate flexibility by adapting to various roles throughout the day.
- Assume responsibilities such as Relief person, Auditor, Troubleshooter, Job setup, Scheduler, and Trainer.
- Coordinate with the team to manage vacation and holiday schedules.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in machine operation is preferred.
- A solid work history is required.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to comprehend and follow work instructions are essential.
Physical Requirements:
- 70% of the time spent standing.
- 30% of the time spent walking.
- Ability to lift rubber tubs weighing up to 20 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
- Good hand-eye coordination is necessary.
