Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Vessel Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Kirby Corporation. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance on vessels to prevent equipment failure and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of vessel operating equipment and perform preventative maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Drive company vehicles to vessel locations and review open work orders to identify and complete necessary tasks.
  • Communicate with planners and other team members to ensure effective communication and coordination of maintenance activities.
  • Complete inspection and work order reports to document findings and completed repairs.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of vessel operating systems and ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Ability to use and operate normal hand tools and special repair tools.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the marine transportation industry with at least 2 years in maintenance and repair.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office criteria, including ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, climb aboard and move around vessels, climb 90-degree vertical ladders, bend, crawl, and maneuver around tight spaces.
  • Basic five days a week, eight hours a day work schedule with some overtime and weekend on-call rotation.
