The Psychologist I at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department is integral in delivering psychiatric and psychological support to adolescents facing mental health challenges. Utilizing a trauma-informed framework, the Psychologist collaborates with a diverse team to provide comprehensive and personalized care for the youth requiring assistance.

  • Lead a team of mental health professionals
  • Oversee trauma-informed intake, assessment, and treatment protocols
  • Provide expert consultation and training for assessment and treatment initiatives
  • Facilitate trauma-informed group and individual therapy sessions
  • Conduct psychological assessments and discharge planning

Levels of Work Performed by Career Path Level:

Psychologist I: Engages in complex tasks under general supervision

Psychologist II: Involves advanced and managerial responsibilities under limited supervision

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Deliver clinical supervision and perform psychological evaluations
  • Provide direct therapeutic services and guidance to team members
  • Participate in in-service training and assess outcomes for disparities
  • Execute related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed psychologist in the State of Texas
  • Less than 2 years of experience for Psychologist I, 2 or more years for Psychologist II

Requirements for All Levels:

  • Pre-employment conditions include drug screenings and background investigations
  • Ongoing licensure maintenance and certifications are mandatory
