General Job Overview

The Educator, Information Technology is accountable to the Department Head, Information Technology. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional educational experiences, guiding the learning journey, mentoring students, pursuing professional growth, and aiding in the enhancement of curriculum offerings.
Key Responsibilities

Instructional Duties:
  • Deliver all assigned courses, maintaining a range of contact hours throughout the scheduled instruction period.
  • Ensure each class session incorporates essential curricular elements, relevant content, and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Facilitate an academic success course when necessary.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology to enrich student learning experiences.
  • Provide and/or oversee quality practical experiences in laboratory and/or clinical environments to meet program requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of instructional spaces and laboratories.
  • Ensure proper functioning of classroom/lab equipment, reporting any issues to the relevant personnel.
  • Recommend textbooks and other instructional resources, including classroom and laboratory equipment to the Department Head.
  • Develop and distribute course syllabi following established guidelines, providing essential information regarding course expectations and evaluation criteria.
Student Support Services
  • Maintain designated office hours and availability for students, a minimum of 5 hours weekly.
  • Act as an academic advisor to assigned students, offering guidance on academic and career planning.
  • Engage in semester advising and registration activities as assigned.
  • Conduct and verify graduation degree audits.
  • Assist in the college's recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Encourage and motivate students in their academic pursuits.
  • Communicate student needs to the Department Head.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and all required documentation promptly, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Commit to staying current in the field and instructional techniques through professional development opportunities provided by the College and other avenues.
  • Participate in program and curriculum evaluations, providing suggestions for curriculum enhancement in alignment with the College's mission and vision.
  • Contribute to college committees as appointed by the President.
  • Engage in departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings and other announced co-curricular activities.
  • Maintain effective communication and supportive relationships with all college units and branches.
  • Ensure posted office and on-campus hours are sufficient to meet all contractual obligations and the needs of the discipline, department, division, and College.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related Information Technology field, or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Information Technology from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Two years of professional experience in an Information Technology field.
Preferred:
  • One year of teaching experience in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting.
  • Three years of teaching experience in a Community College environment.
  • Current Microsoft certifications such as MCP, MCSA, or MCSE.
  • Current CompTIA certifications including NET+, Security+, Server+, Linux+, A+, CySA+, or Cloud+.
  • Current Cisco certifications such as CCST Networking, CCST Cybersecurity, CCNA, CyberOps Associate, DevNet, or CCNP.
  • Current AWS certification including Cloud Practitioner.
  • Current VMware certifications such as VCTA-DCV or VCP-DCV.
  • Experience in Data Analytics and proficiency in Computer Programming Languages including Python or Java.
