Job Overview

Position: Makerspace and Fab Lab Coordinator

Compensation: $ /hour

Role Summary:

The Makerspace and Fab Lab Coordinator is responsible for offering assistance and direction to educators and learners within the Fabrication Lab and/or Makerspace at Da Vinci Design High School. This role involves maintaining the facilities and equipment, as well as overseeing the procurement requests for tools, software, and other resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to educators on the use of equipment and software to enhance student projects.
  • Assist both educators and students during the brainstorming and creation phases of projects.
  • Ensure the Fab Lab/Makerspace is kept clean and safe for all users.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of materials and manage the check-in/out process.
  • Conduct orientations and training sessions for staff and students regarding the use of the space.
  • Engage in staff meetings and professional development activities as necessary.
  • Prepare proposals for purchasing materials, equipment, and software.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for orders, equipment servicing, and professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in advisory board meetings biannually.
  • Assist in setting up the Fab Lab, including equipment installation and procedure development.
  • Collaborate with team members to address the needs of the educational sites.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred; a teaching credential is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated positive communication and collaboration skills when interacting with staff and students.
  • Exhibit versatility and initiative in various tasks.
  • Commitment to completing tasks and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Desire to support the mission and programs of Da Vinci Design High School.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including traditionally underserved populations.
  • Alignment with the goals and philosophy of Da Vinci Schools.
