Job Overview

Position: Makerspace and Fab Lab Coordinator

Compensation: $ /hour

Role Summary:

The Makerspace and Fab Lab Coordinator is responsible for offering assistance and direction to educators and learners within the Fabrication Lab and/or Makerspace at Da Vinci Design High School. This role includes maintaining the facilities and equipment, as well as overseeing the procurement of necessary tools, software, and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist educators in utilizing equipment and software effectively for student projects.
  • Support both teachers and students throughout the project development and execution phases.
  • Ensure the Fab Lab/Makerspace is kept clean, organized, and safe for all users.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials and manage check-in/check-out processes.
  • Provide training and orientation for staff and students as required for effective use of the space.
  • Engage in professional development activities and contribute to staff meetings.
  • Prepare and submit proposals for purchasing materials, equipment, and software.
  • Collaborate with vendors regarding orders, equipment maintenance, and professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in advisory board meetings biannually.
  • Assist in the setup and operational procedures of the Fab Lab, including equipment installation and training.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to fulfill the needs of the educational environment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred; a teaching credential is not mandatory but is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate positively and collaborate effectively with staff and students.
  • Exhibit versatility and take initiative in various tasks.
  • Ability to follow through on tasks and maintain cleanliness.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission of Da Vinci Design High School and its programs.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including historically underserved students and families.
  • Alignment with the goals and philosophy of Da Vinci Schools.

  • Adequate hearing to understand normal speech levels.
  • Visual acuity for close-up and distance tasks, along with depth perception.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • A valid California Driver's License is required.
