Position Overview

The role involves conducting thorough forensic evaluations of structural component failures and assessing water intrusion within building envelopes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site assessments to investigate and document the conditions of building envelopes.
  • Demonstrate strong technical writing skills to compile observational data and research into comprehensive investigation reports.
  • Engage in meetings with stakeholders including property owners, contractors, developers, and architects.
  • Conduct both field and laboratory testing, which includes:
    • Window testing in controlled environments and on-site.
    • Air barrier evaluations in real-world conditions.
    • ASTM E330 testing within laboratory settings.
    • Fastener withdrawal assessments in both field and lab environments.
    • Wind uplift evaluations in various settings.
  • Carry out forensic analysis of field samples and moisture testing.
  • Execute testing protocols for exterior wall systems in both field and laboratory contexts.
  • Facilitate training and development initiatives for junior staff members.
  • Review and analyze calculations pertinent to new and existing structures, including wind loading (ASCE 7), load calculations, and drainage assessments.
  • Collaborate with design teams to enhance detailing that supports calculated design loads.
  • Participate in forensic evaluations of existing structures and establish in-house testing protocols for in-service materials.
  • Work alongside firm leadership to refine field analysis methodologies and assist in training field personnel on ASTM E2128 and ASTM E2018 evaluations.
  • Contribute to report writing and the creation of report templates, particularly focusing on materials analysis.
