Key Responsibilities
  • Therapeutic Milieu Maintenance: Conduct regular checks on residents, resident rooms, and facility property to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Resident Monitoring: Monitor residents' physical and emotional well-being, reporting any unusual behavior or physical ailments to medical staff and the treatment team.
  • Documentation and Charting: Complete necessary resident charting and documentation within each shift, ensuring accurate and timely records.
  • De-escalation and Intervention: Be prepared to intervene with verbal de-escalation and physically perform benevolent restraints with violent, potentially violent, or suicidal residents as required.
  • Behavioral Influence and Support: Observe and influence residents' behavior, communicating and interacting with them to promote positive change.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with mental health therapists, psychologists, and rehabilitation therapists to provide comprehensive support to our residents.
  • Activity Development and Implementation: Encourage and aid residents to develop their own activities of daily living, practice social skills, and participate in social, recreational, or other therapeutic activities.
  • Training and Development: Train or instruct new employees on procedures to follow with psychiatric patients, ensuring a smooth transition and high-quality care.
  • Resident Transportation and Supervision: Transport and closely supervise residents at appointments or off-campus activities, reporting behavioral observations upon return to the facility.
  • Staff Meetings and Training: Attend monthly staff meetings and mandatory trainings to stay up-to-date on program policies and procedures.
  • Correspondence and Communication: Read all required correspondence related to resident care prior to each shift, ensuring a thorough understanding of resident needs.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in the human services field preferred, with a minimum of 21 years of age and a valid driver's license with 5 years of driving experience and a current good driving record.
  • Background Check and Physical Requirements: Pass a background check and meet physical requirements, including exerting 50 pounds by lifting, pushing, carrying, etc.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and connect with diverse individuals from different backgrounds.
  • Problem-Solving and Stress Management: Demonstrate problem-solving, quick thinking, good memory, and active listening skills, with the ability to work as a team and manage stress effectively.
  • Computer Skills: Possess basic computer skills for charting, scheduling, and email functions.
