Position:
Aerospace Mechanical Specialist


KBR is seeking an Aerospace Mechanical Specialist with at least 2 years of relevant experience to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and support of major U.S. Air Force weapon systems.

The systems you will be involved with include, but are not limited to, the F-16, T-38, A-10, F-15, C-5, C-17, C-130, B-1, B-52, as well as avionics, communication systems, and ground support equipment.

Your primary focus will be on the component and assembly levels for the A-10 Thunderbolt II Attack Aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:


This role is a vital part of a team responsible for validating test, design, and manufacturing plans for critical A-10 components.

Following this, you will engage in non-recurring engineering tasks aimed at identifying strategies to enhance reliability, which may involve modifications to system configurations, materials, and designs.

Your responsibilities will encompass the creation of engineering documentation to facilitate changes in system configurations, materials, and repair/overhaul processes, as well as prototype development and qualification testing.


Additionally, you will identify potential subcontractor support needs and collaborate with subcontractors to ensure high-quality deliverables on product development initiatives.


This position provides a platform to gain experience in system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessments, acquisition program management, strategic development, and interfacing with operations and logistics.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 2 years of relevant experience

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills

Solid mechanical aptitude

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Mechanical Engineering related to U.S. Air Force weapon systems and/or support equipment

Familiarity with ANSYS, SolidWorks, other CAD software, MATLAB, FEA, reverse engineering, and testing methodologies.

Experience in disassembly and reassembly of components

Additional Information:

This position may involve some travel.
