This is a part-time 24-hours per week position as a CNA in our Long Term Care Facility in Rumford, Maine. The successful candidate will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a RN or physician, assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing personal care, emotional support, and performing more complex clinical skills under the direction of a RN.
Responsibilities- Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
- Provide care appropriate to condition and age of patient, including adult, geriatric and the general patient population.
- Assist with patient admissions, discharge and transfers.
- Provide care which may include assistance to bathroom, shower, dressing patients, changing bed linen, cleaning over-bed table and bedside stand, straightening room/bay and other general care as necessary throughout the shift.
- Transport patients to and from the Holding Room/Operating Room.
- Turn over patient bay in a quick and efficient manner.
- Provide general nursing care such as positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in use of bedpan, commode and ambulating patients.
- Prepare patients for meals; serve and remove food trays and assist with meals or feeds patients if necessary.
- Distribute drinking water and snacks to patients as applicable.
- Answer patients' call lights, anticipate patients' needs and make rounds of assigned patients.
- Transport patients to various departments for ordered tests/procedures.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform procedures within the CNA's scope of practice per state law.
- As requested, take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, blood pressure and intake-output.
- Report patient complaint of pain to the assigned RN.
- Observe patient's mental and physical conditions as appropriate to scope of practice, report any changes to supervising RN.
- Maintain a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
- Documentation meets current standards and policies.
- Attend in-service education programs, as assigned, to learn new treatments, procedures, developmental skills, etc.
- Treat patient and families with respect and dignity.
