Animal Care Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Animal Technician to join our team at Yoh. As an Animal Technician, you will be responsible for conducting daily observations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures for a variety of laboratory animal species to provide high-quality animal care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily observations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures for laboratory animal species.
  • Work well independently and with others to efficiently handle multiple priorities in various areas.
  • Plan the orderly direction of work, establish priorities, and implement procedures in support of colony health programs and investigator research.
  • Conduct animal health procedures, such as injections, IV catheterization, and bandaging, with skill and proficiency.
  • Assist with coordination and performance of quarantine and preventative programs, including vaccinations, tuberculosis testing, and blood collection.
  • Assist with behavioral assessments and make decisions regarding socialization and enrichment plans for NHPs under the direction of the behavioral specialist.
  • Assist in assessment of critical cases and pain management of animal colonies.
  • Assist with coordination and management of the rodent colony health monitoring program as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years' experience or associates degree in a recognized program for veterinary technicians.
  • Certification as an Animal Health Technician or AALAS LATg preferred.
  • Good clinical veterinary skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and organizational and teamworking skills.
  • Experience in a research setting or pharmaceutical company preferred.

What We Offer:

  • Contract: 6-month contract with possibility of extension and/or conversion.
  • Pay rate: $19.81 per hour, W2.
