About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team at the City of Carlsbad Fire Department. As an EMT, you will play a critical role in providing emergency medical services to our community, responding to medical emergencies, and working collaboratively with our team to ensure the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life support services to patients
  • Assist Paramedics and Firefighters in emergency situations
  • Operate and maintain ambulances, support vehicles, and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Participate in training and professional development to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current State of California EMT-B or EMT-P license and San Diego County EMT-B or EMT-P accreditation required
  • Valid Class C California Driver's License required
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move patients and equipment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months of experience working as an EMT-Basic in a prehospital system
  • Previous Fire Explorer, Fire Cadet, or public safety experience
  • Firefighter 1 Accredited Academy
  • Paramedic License
