Role of the ELL Instructor
The English Language Learner (ELL) Instructor plays a pivotal role under the guidance of the Principal, focusing on the educational needs of students identified as English Language Learners. This position is essential for promoting student success and managing the ELL caseload across one or more campuses within the Momentum Academy network.
Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Serve as an instructional leader, guiding and exemplifying best practices in ELL instruction throughout the curriculum.
- Assess, monitor, and appropriately place ELL students in suitable educational programs.
- Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to cater to a diverse student body.
- Design and execute weekly instructional activities aimed at enhancing English language acquisition.
- Support classroom teachers by reinforcing objectives and curriculum through targeted individual or small group sessions.
- Provide language skill reinforcement in areas such as listening comprehension, oral communication, language structure, reading, and writing.
- Regularly evaluate student progress through assessments, including ACCESS for ELs and W-APT screening tests.
- Ensure continuous student growth aligned with Missouri's English Language Learner Proficiency standards, maintaining comprehensive records of lesson plans and Individual Language Learner Plans (ILLPs).
- Maintain accurate student records in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
- Collaborate with school administration to develop and implement a robust ELL program.
- Offer insights into the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of students to enhance instructional effectiveness.
Education and Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is mandatory.
- Missouri Teaching Certification is required.
- Certification in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) K-12 or the ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of teaching experience, particularly in urban educational settings, is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with educational technology and virtual learning platforms.
- Demonstrated success in achieving student outcomes.
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Passion for content knowledge and effective teaching practices.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management abilities.

Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary for this role is $40,036.52, with potential increases based on experience, certifications, and educational qualifications.

Work Schedule
