Job Description

Card-Monroe Automation is seeking a highly skilled Automation Controls Engineer II to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing control system solutions for various types of automated equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing control system solutions for various types of automated equipment.
  • Assisting in developing software code from scratch for programmable controllers, robotics, motion control, vision systems, SCADA applications, and various high-level languages.
  • Creating accurate project documentation, including control narratives, IO lists, flowcharts, device lists, and more.
  • Supporting equipment testing, debugging, dry-cycle, runoff, FAT, and commissioning for automation equipment.
  • Supporting the installation, commissioning, and training of machines at customer sites.
  • Assisting in system acceptance and sign-off at customer facilities.
  • Reviewing budgets and schedules.
  • Determining and choosing appropriate hardware and devices for automated systems.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering or related field OR Associate's degree (2-year) with 2+ years of experience in Controls for industrial manufacturing related machines, equipment, robot cells, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience in machine building, system integration, or industrial automation.
  • AutoCAD or Solidworks Electrical experience.
  • PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley RS Logix 5, 500, Studio 5000, Siemens Step7, TIA Portal).
  • HMI programming experience (Allen-Bradley FT View ME, SE, RSView, Panelbuilder, Siemens WinCC Flex, TIA Portal).
  • SCADA programming experience (FactoryTalk, Ignition, Wonderware, GE Proficy).
  • Industrial networking experience: Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, TCP/IP, Modbus, DH+, RIO, EtherCAT, etc.
  • Vision experience (KEYENCE, COGNEX, BALLUFF).
  • Servo experience (AB Kinetix, Siemens SIMOTION).
  • Hands-on experience in automotive, food/beverage, chemical, or consumer product manufacturing designing and integrating automated equipment.
  • Designing integration equipment including robot cells, OEM machines, process systems, etc.
  • Working knowledge of process control strategies such as PID loops.
  • Electrical and mechanical aptitude to understand the automation processes being controlled.
  • Understand discrete and analog circuits, and how to troubleshoot.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to take initiative; highly self-motivated.
  • The ability to work well in a team-based environment and independently.
  • Strong design and problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • ISA88 Batch Programming experience a plus.
  • PlantPAX experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 365 software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • An ability to understand limitations in technical knowledge and when to pursue training or help.
