Job Title: Transportation Planner II - Transit Project Management

Are you looking to make a meaningful impact in the field of transportation planning? The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a Transportation Planner II to support the implementation and management of short-term transit projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and implement short-term transit-related projects, working closely with public and private transportation providers, local governments, and other stakeholders.
  • Review and recommend project invoices and other project-specific documents to ensure project commitments are met.
  • Assist with budgeting and preparing funding proposals to support the needs of rural and urban public transportation providers.
  • Develop and administer procurements that support the needs of regional transit providers and partners.
  • Facilitate partnerships between regional transit providers and partners, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
  • Draft correspondence, documentation, reports, articles, meeting summaries, and executive summaries to support project management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide technical assistance and support within the agency and to external partners, ensuring compliance with grantor program guidelines.
  • Analyze and interpret federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to transportation planning and funding.
  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations to stakeholders, including project updates and results.
Requirements:
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partner agencies, the public, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to derive insights and meaningful interpretation of data by performing analyses on various sources.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with sensitivity to cultural, socioeconomic, and political issues in the community.
  • Knowledge of short-term or long-range transportation planning, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with proactive problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in analytical and quantitative methods, such as public administration, political science, business, transportation planning, urban/regional planning, or a related field of study.
  • At least one year of job-related experience.
