Job Overview

Department: Fitness Programs

Reports to: Fitness Program Manager

Employment Type: Regular Part-Time, non-exempt, IMRF ineligible

Work Schedule: Flexible hours based on class availability, not exceeding 19 hours weekly.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on qualifications.

Position Summary:

As a Substitute Group Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for conducting a variety of group exercise sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively lead group fitness classes of different styles and intensities, including Aqua and Silver Sneakers.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols established by the Park District.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Adult CPR/AED certification.
  • Valid certification as a Group Fitness Instructor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to step into substitute instructor roles on short notice.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily indoor setting, with opportunities for outdoor classes.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong ability to follow directions and communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  • Capable of working independently under the direction of the Fitness Program Manager.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment while upholding the values of the Park District.
  • Exhibits professionalism and composure in challenging situations.
  • Open to constructive feedback and supervision.
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and new challenges.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment to achieving fitness goals.
