About the Unit

Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a high-acuity unit that provides care to critically ill patients who require close monitoring and life-sustaining therapies. Our team of experienced nurses and healthcare professionals work together to deliver exceptional patient care and outcomes.

Scope of Work

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the SICU is responsible for providing high-quality patient care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The RN will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physical and emotional needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans to meet those needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate and timely administration.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and laboratory results, reporting any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, promoting health literacy and self-management skills.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have a current RN license in the state of Michigan and at least one year of experience in a critical care setting. BLS and ACLS certifications are also required. Specialty certification in critical care is highly recommended.
