Job Title: Traveling Project Leader I

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Traveling Project Leader I to lead our mechanical retrofit projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the overall execution and performance of these projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, execute, and manage assigned mechanical projects, ensuring they meet Johnson Controls' standard practices and customer expectations.
  • Oversee the mechanical retrofit process, coordinating with Mechanics and subcontractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Estimate mechanical work, present proposals to customers, and assist sales in project development efforts.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise resources to staff project teams, ensuring proper staffing levels and project execution.
  • Coordinate with support teams on drawing layouts, detailing, and financial reporting systems to proactively address potential problems and manage risk.
  • Investigate solutions, establish project recovery plans, and provide ongoing cost and estimate analysis reporting.
  • Manage asset management, including collections, cost control, progress billings, and payables, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee assigned projects for compliance with specifications, local codes, and installation techniques, consistently negotiating buy-outs of materials, equipment, and subcontracts.
  • Develop and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers and subcontractors, ensuring project document controls comply with contract requirements and Johnson Controls' standards.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of comprehensive, technical, and operational knowledge of the HVAC service business, particularly related to smaller fast-track retrofit, remodel, and tenant improvement types of projects.
  • 2-4 years of engineering or trade school training, such as an engineering degree or equivalent, is preferred.
  • Installation and service experience related to complex HVAC mechanical systems and equipment is desired.
  • Proficient in Project Management software and financial accounting systems, with strong Personal Computer capabilities in MS Office, Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environment.
