FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary: The Automotive Cleaning Specialist is responsible for the thorough cleaning and detailing of various vehicle makes and models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles to and from the washing area.
- Utilize power sprayers and hoses to wash the exterior of vehicles, employing appropriate cleaning solutions, cloths, and brushes.
- Apply wax to the vehicle body and buff the surface to maintain shine and protect the finish using cloths or buffing machines.
- Vacuum the interiors of vehicles to eliminate loose dirt and debris with a vacuum cleaner.
- Ensure wash areas and equipment are consistently maintained and ready to meet the demands of incoming vehicles.
- Clean upholstery, carpets, and other surfaces using various cleaning agents and tools.
- Steam clean engines and engine compartments with specialized equipment and cleaning agents to remove grease and grime.
- Return completed vehicles to the designated area for delivery.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness around the facility as directed by management.
Supervisory Role:
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are necessary: a valid driver's license is required.
Education & Experience:
A high school diploma or GED is preferred; candidates with six months to one year of related experience or training will also be considered. We provide training for the right candidates.
Language Proficiency:
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Capable of writing simple reports and effectively communicating with customers and team members.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and utilize American money and measurement units. Proficiency in operating a PC for dealership software is expected.
Reasoning Skills:
Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in various formats and to address problems involving standard variables.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands for this role include regular standing, using hands for handling and feeling, and frequent walking, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Candidates must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.
Work Environment:
This position may expose employees to wet and humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and various materials. Noise levels in the work environment are typically loud.
