Kent, Washington, United States Stoke Space Full time

At Stoke Space, we're pushing the boundaries of space technology to make it accessible to everyone. As a Rocket Engine Designer, you'll play a crucial role in driving component-level design trades for our engine.

Key responsibilities include owning component CAD models, procuring and building components, testing and qualifying components, supporting engine build and integration, and supporting testing to iterate engine components as needed.

Examples of components you may work on include cryogenic flexible feedlines, heat exchangers, engine gimbals, tubing routing, TVC, pneumatic systems, heat shields, manifolds, panels, mounting structure, engine tooling, thrust structures, and test rigs.

You'll also develop and execute qualification test plans to ensure readiness for flight, including vibration, thermal cycle, life cycle, and flow testing.

Collaboration with Engine Layout, Combustion, Turbomachinery, and Valve RE's is essential to support their higher-level component designs.

Proficiency in CAD software (NX preferred) and analysis software (ANSYS preferred) is required, as well as fundamentals in GD&T, tolerance stackups, and material selections.

Experience with detailed mechanical design, including machined parts, additive parts, weldments, fasteners, seals, and assemblies, is also necessary.

Additionally, knowledge of general fabrication methods, including CNC milling, turning, EDM, welding, bending, etc., and hands-on experience performing fabrication, assembly, and/or testing are required.

Preferred qualifications include 1+ years of experience in design, build, and testing of rocket engine systems, a Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or similar, and a willingness to relocate to Seattle, WA.

Stoke Space offers a competitive salary range of $91,000 - $141,400, flexible scheduling, medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, and a commitment to compliance with all equal opportunity laws.
