Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Custodian to join our team at the Central Office. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus and classrooms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Secure all doors and windows to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Sweep, mop, dust, scrub, and vacuum classrooms, hallways, stairs, and office areas to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance activities to ensure the building is in good working condition.
  • Replace air conditioner filters to ensure optimal air quality.
  • Operate school boilers and heating and cooling equipment to provide a comfortable temperature.
  • Notify the head custodian, principal, and/or maintenance department of any major repairs or additions needed to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
  • Assist with supervision of sweepers and groundskeepers to ensure the grounds are well-maintained.
  • Make minor repairs on electrical fixtures, plumbing, doors, locks, windows, glass, and other building fixtures as required.
  • Assist in setting up school facilities for events and functions, and clean the facilities after the event.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks such as filling the coke machine, putting out supplies, and building small objects for the faculty.
  • Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance at all times.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6-12 months of job-related experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
Work Environment:

The work environment is moderate, with occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually moderate.
