Job Overview

This part-time faculty position is responsible for preparing and teaching courses in chemistry and corresponding labs at Tacoma Community College. The successful candidate will report directly to the Dean for Math, Science and Engineering.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and teach introductory chemistry courses, including organic and inorganic chemistry, in a classroom environment.
• Successfully teach students with no prior chemistry background.
• Perform duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have:

• A Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• Experience teaching at a community college and/or the freshman & sophomore levels is preferred.

Eligible employees can also participate in the State Board Retirement Plan (SBRP) or the Teachers Retirement System (TRS) Plan 2 or Plan 3.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Part-time faculty may become eligible for healthcare and retirement benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half-time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education.
