Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage the embryology and andrology laboratory teams, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
- Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our test results.
- Collaborate with the laboratory director and other stakeholders to develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including CLIA and CAP.
- Develop and maintain laboratory databases and records, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of test results.
- Perform andrology procedures such as sperm cryopreservation and thawing, sperm vitality testing, retrograde sperm preparation, and other related tasks.
- Perform daily assays for serum hormone determinations, semen testing, and processing for therapeutic intrauterine insemination.
- Complete patient reports and enter data into electronic medical records and clinical filing systems.
- Maintain log of patient results to ensure correct patient accessioning, and maintain laboratory patient and billing databases and sperm tank inventory.
- Document all corrective actions when test systems deviate from the lab's established performance specifications, and notify the laboratory director.
- Perform proficiency testing in the same manner as patient's specimens for both the andrology and endocrine labs.
- Participate in laboratory coverage on a weekend and holiday rotation, and remote alarm response participation required on a rotating schedule for 24-hour laboratory coverage.
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical or Biological Science.
- NYS Department of Education Clinical Licensed Technologist (CLT) certification required within 3 years of being employed.
- General knowledge of operation of web-based QC platforms, electronic medical records, and document control platforms.
- Rigorous QA and QC regarding handling of specimens and extreme care and caution in labeling and handling specimens.
