Job Title: Speech and Language Specialist

About the Job:

We are seeking a skilled Speech and Language Specialist to join our team at Marion City Schools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in speech and language pathology, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

About the Role:

  • Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and language handicapped children.
  • Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
  • Perform assessments and diagnose speech, voice, and language impairments.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy programs to address specific student needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy suggestions for students' daily activities.
  • Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families as needed.
  • Participate in in-service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff on topics concerning speech improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records for students receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services.
  • Ensure the safety of students at all times.

Requirements:

  • Maintain appropriate licenses/endorsements and training hours as required.
  • Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to all standards established by the Ohio Department of Education for Licensed Educators.
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
