Role OverviewThe Clinical Pathology Assistant (CPA) is integral to the examination of tissue samples, ensuring accurate documentation, specimen coding, and the execution of various procedures related to the analysis and preservation of specimens.
Key Responsibilities:- Providing detailed gross descriptions of tissue samples and associated materials
- Conducting dissection of fresh tissue specimens
- Training residents, fellows, and students in dissection methodologies
- Executing frozen section techniques
- Preserving specimens for further studies and tissue banking
- Preparing samples for diagnostic evaluation and additional procedures
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline
- Master's degree from an accredited Pathologists' Assistant program
- Minimum of one year of pertinent professional experience
- Understanding of infection control protocols
- Strong communication abilities
- Proficiency in operating medical instruments
- Adaptability to technological advancements
- Expertise in laboratory methodologies and practices
- PA (ASCP) – Pathologist Assistant Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology
- Proactively addressing patient needs
- Facilitating improved patient outcomes
- Coordinating care with efficiency
