Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pathologist Assistant II to join our team at Sutter Health. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in laboratory operations, quality assurance, and surgical pathology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Integrate knowledge, theory, and practice to execute procedures in assigned areas of the laboratory.
  • Maintain competence in all practices to perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens.
  • Work cooperatively with physicians, clients, and staff to facilitate superior patient care and represent the laboratory positively.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to troubleshoot problems and improve laboratory operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biological science or related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program within the last five years.
  • ASCP certification within six months of hire.
  • Two years of recent relevant experience in laboratory operations and quality assurance.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge and technical competence in gross and post-mortem examinations, laboratory operations, and quality assurance in surgical pathology.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes.
  • Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks.
  • Culturally competent communication skills to interact with individuals and groups of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day. The salary range is $71.57 to $89.45 per hour, and the position is non-exempt.
