Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Financial Analyst II to join our team at the University of California, San Francisco. As a key member of our research administration team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and management of research contracts and grants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide analytical, financial, and training activities in support of contract and grant proposal development, grant-writing, funding, administration, and budget development.
  • Manage pre-award proposal initiatives, post-award management of funds, and closeout activities for federal, state, local, and private sponsors.
  • Analyze research funding trends and sources, forecast, plan, and manage research portfolios by performing tasks such as coordinating and identifying proposals, contracts, and agreements; reviewing proposals to ensure institutional compliance and program success; negotiating, administering, and monitoring contract and grant awards; and financial management and reporting.
  • Develop and/or oversee research, awards, and/or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintain contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with budgets, contracts, and grants, human resources/payroll, contracts, and grants, or equivalent related experience.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
  • Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Ability to maintain independent judgment, strong organization, communication skills, and a customer service focus.
  • Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles.
  • Writing skills to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent initiative, organization skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to participate and contribute as a member of a team in support of unit goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data and interpret and apply guidelines and policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor, and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to the use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
