Job Title: Financial Services Research Consultant

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Services Research Consultant to join our team at TransUnion. As a key member of our analytics team, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis to drive business insights and inform strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Extract data from large population datasets and perform segmentation and statistical analyses using languages such as SQL, R, and Python on Linux and Big data platforms.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into business insights to be shared at industry conferences and potentially published with leading media outlets.
  • Serve as an internal expert on both traditional and short-term lending credit data and how it applies to industry trends and current research.
  • Lead projects involving descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analysis leveraging a variety of techniques (e.g. segmentation, regression, clustering, survival analysis, and machine learning).
  • Help to cultivate an environment that promotes excellence, innovation, and a constantly learning spirit.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • A Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics or an equivalent discipline
  • Advanced proficiency with writing SQL queries for data analysis
  • Proficient in statistical programming languages (R, Python, etc.)
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and lead multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to supervise junior analysts while managing their own projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with FCRA data in consumer credit
  • Highly analytical mindset with the curiosity to dig deeper into data, trends and consumer behavior to better understand why consumers act the way they do with their credit
  • Ability to translate a business problem into an analytical design and propose a solution using its analysis findings independently
  • Extensive experience with big data platforms (e.g. Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Hive, etc.)
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau

Pay Scale Information:

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $112,000. This position is eligible for bonus incentive(s). At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual's education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position, and market considerations.
