Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Counselor to join our team at UNC Health. As a Rehabilitation Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing rehabilitation planning, disability adjustment counseling, vocational development and placement, disability management, and systematic follow-up to individuals served by the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide barrier removal services to facilitate individuals' return to work and home with adequate accommodations, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Manage a caseload of individuals to maximize independence and employability, utilizing community and in-house resources.
  • Conduct vocational assessments to assess job readiness, prevent secondary injury, manage pain, and identify significant employability factors.
  • Develop and maintain a system of compliance for workers' compensation, ensuring appropriate billing, timely referrals, and closed-loop communication amongst providers and insurance companies.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop research programs and carry out research protocols.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or Rehabilitation Psychology.
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
  • Two years of progressive experience as an independent rehabilitation counselor in a direct patient care setting.
