Baby-Friendly USA Inc is seeking a highly qualified Accreditation Specialist to join our External Review Board team. As a volunteer, you will play a critical role in evaluating and accrediting hospitals that meet our rigorous standards for breastfeeding support.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and evaluate assessment reports from hospitals seeking Baby-Friendly designation or re-designation.
- Communicate with our Accreditation Director to clarify any questions or concerns regarding the evaluation process.
- Make designation or re-designation decisions via electronic ballot within two weeks of receiving the assessment report.
- Participate in bi-monthly conference calls with our management team and colleagues to discuss accreditation decisions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of this volunteer role and our evaluation assessment tools and policies.
- Knowledge and understanding of the current United States Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria for Baby-Friendly hospitals.
- 10+ years of experience in maternal and child health as a licensed or certified U.S.-based health professional, such as a Medical Doctor, Certified Nurse Midwife, Registered Nurse, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, or Registered Dietitian.
- 10+ years of experience working in a maternity care unit of a hospital.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria at a healthcare facility.
- Knowledge of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes.
