Job Summary:

The Prep Cook is a vital member of our culinary team, responsible for preparing ingredients and maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen environment. They ensure the smooth operation of our kitchen by organizing and running efficient food preparation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up and sanitizing workstations to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Following prep lists created by chefs to ensure accurate and timely food preparation.
  • Measuring and preparing ingredients, such as stock, sauces, and vegetables, to meet the needs of our menu.
  • Preparing simple dishes, such as soups, salads, and desserts, to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible to meet the demands of our kitchen.
  • Following recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients, to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes, to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety.
  • Maintaining food safety and sanitation standards to prevent foodborne illness and maintain a clean and healthy environment.
  • Supervising food and cooling room temperatures to ensure proper storage and handling of food.
  • Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers to ensure quality and freshness.
  • Executing opening and closing procedures to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
  • Operating kitchen equipment, such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers, to prepare a variety of dishes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a prep or cook position.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, including safe temperatures for ingredients and food preparation, to prevent foodborne illness.
  • A desire to work as part of a team and help where needed.
  • Ability to work positively and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow direct orders and recipes, and to correctly prepare dishes to the standards of our restaurant.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knives, for chopping, slicing, cutting, and dicing.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, wipe, and handle extreme heat for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Professional appearance and mannerisms.
  • Food Handler Certification.
