About the Role

Premise Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Centralized Staffing Pool team in Blacksburg and Dublin, VA. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to client employees and/or contractors and visitors to the health center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to clients, prioritizing treatment and maintaining patient flow.
  • Conduct thorough nursing assessments, including patient history and physical examination, and obtain vital signs and medical tests as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians or other licensed independent practitioners to arrange for further medical treatment when necessary.
  • Identify equipment that needs repair and bring it to the attention of the lead clinician.
  • Perform occupational and health screening tests, including EKG, audiometry, spirometry, and vision tests.
  • Conduct laboratory tests and quality control procedures.
  • Document all elements of nursing assessment, treatments, medications administered, discharge instructions provided, and follow-up care arranged.
  • Evaluate health education/promotion needs of patients and provide necessary training and instruction.
  • Identify emergency situations and provide care within the legal scope of practice.
  • Administer medications and medical treatments competently as directed by a physician or licensed independent practitioner.
  • Maintain medical records using electronic medical record software.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, following infection control procedures.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidential patient information.
  • Participate in follow-up phone calls and patient visits.
Requirements
  • Certificate from an accredited nursing school or associate's degree is required; bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.
  • Currently licensed registered nurse in the state of practice is required.
  • Current hands-on training in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers is required; advanced cardiac life support may also be required based on contract scope of services.
  • Certification in occupational health nursing, emergency nursing, or case management is preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • At least three years of experience as a registered nurse in an emergency room, occupational health clinic, or other ambulatory care clinic.
  • Knowledge of internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic medical records are preferred.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations are preferred.
