Job Summary

The Patient Account Representative is a key member of our revenue cycle team, responsible for resolving patient accounts in a timely and efficient manner. This role requires a strong understanding of the revenue cycle process, from patient access to payment, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and resolve patient accounts using company patient accounting applications and internet resources
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and third-party payors to resolve account issues
  • Update patient and payor demographic/insurance information, notate account details, and identify payor issues and trends
  • Request additional information from patients, medical records, and other necessary documentation
  • Review contracts and identify billing or coding issues, and request re-bills, secondary billing, or corrected bills as needed
  • Maintain desk inventory to remain current without backlog, while achieving productivity and quality standards
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in business administration or accounting preferred
  • 1-4 years medical claims and/or hospital collections experience
  • Minimum typing requirement of 45 wpm
Work Environment

This role is based in a call center environment with multiple workstations in close proximity. The ideal candidate will be able to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
