Job Summary

The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking a highly skilled Health System Specialist to join our team in the Chief of Staff Office in Los Angeles, California.

As a Health System Specialist, you will provide administrative and technical direction and support to the Credentialing and Privileging operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing subject matter expertise in credentials and clinical privileging (C&P)
  • Ensuring accurate provider data is entered into and maintained in the VetPro computer program
  • Providing oversight to the application process, analyzing exceptions and deviations, and determining course of action and making recommendations
  • Providing guidance and instruction to hospital staff in completing the required documentation of establishing privileges for Licensed Independent Providers (LIPs)
  • Collecting data and making informed decisions to ensure qualified healthcare professionals are providing appropriate care in appropriate settings

Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal service)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of VetPro policies
  • Skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies
  • Ability to communicate orally and technically with a diverse group of individuals
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical specialties, and core privileges and procedures

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level, applicants must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. if directly related to the work of the position.
