Job Title: Head of Flight Software, AvionicsWe are seeking an exceptional leader to head our Flight Software team, responsible for designing and delivering reliable, scalable, and testable software for our launch vehicles. As Head of Flight Software, you will lead architectural design and day-to-day management of your team of engineers, championing safety, reliability, and testability.
Responsibilities:- Lead the Flight Software team in developing highly reliable autonomous flight software.
- Own flight software development from conception to flight-ready systems through design, development, testing, and integration.
- Mentor your team and provide support in architectural decisions, investigations, troubleshooting issues, and designing solutions.
- Lead the team in developing and maintaining feature, regression, SIL, and HIL testing.
- B.S. degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related subject area.
- 5+ years experience in the development of high reliability software.
- 2+ years experience in managing direct reports.
- Proficiency with C++, Python, and Linux.
- Experience in the use of standard electronic lab test and troubleshooting equipment.
- Experience working in hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) or system integration labs (SIL).
- Proven history of integrating software and hardware systems.
- Demonstrated electrical engineering, digital and analog circuit fundamentals, and lab skills (ability to read schematics, understand datasheets, debug PCBs).
- Experience with test automation and automated data analysis.
- Experience writing test plans, test procedures, and verification matrixes.
- Experience working in a dynamic startup environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $190,000 per year. This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
ITAR Requirement:This position requires access to information protected under US export control laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations.
As such, US person status (including US citizens, U.S. permanent residents, individuals granted U.S. asylum status, or individuals admitted in U.S. refugee status) is a required qualification for this position.
