Nursing Assistant

Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to residents in assisted living, providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse.
Responsibilities include assisting residents with basic health care needs, such as bathing, toileting, grooming, and dressing/undressing, as well as providing psychosocial support and other personal care.
Depending on location, the NA may also assist with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment, as well as providing range of motion and passive exercises.
The NA is responsible for completing tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience for residents, and assisting with meals and snacks.
Additionally, the NA may aid providers and nursing staff members with procedures, collect non-invasive body fluid specimens, and gather vital signs.
The NA is expected to communicate changing conditions, medication follow-up, and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
Qualifications include a high school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required, as well as a minimum age of 16 and prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in assisted living.
Required certifications include Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, and satisfactorily completing yearly department-specific competency testing and maintaining a record of continuing education credits for each year.
