Key Responsibilities

Software Integration & Development

  • Utilizes expertise in SOAP and REST APIs alongside ETL tools to manage comprehensive data flows across various applications, databases, and data warehouses.
  • Works closely with team members and data warehouse personnel to architect and implement necessary data flow requirements for applications and reporting.
  • Develops and maintains applications on LAMP (PHP) platforms, leveraging technologies such as Laravel, MySQL, and Bootstrap, while also possessing skills in Ajax, JavaScript, Java, Python, and Docker.
  • Partners with IS team members to cultivate new programming practices and data management techniques, including peer code reviews and training sessions.
  • Collaborates on the use of code repositories and the implementation of automated testing practices to enhance code quality.
  • Coordinates with staff responsible for identity management services to ensure data integrity and flow from HR systems.

Business Process Analysis

  • Translates functional requirements into technical specifications for the adoption of commercial software solutions or the development of new applications.
  • Identifies potential improvements or alternatives based on user needs and existing system knowledge.
  • Anticipates technical requirements by understanding organizational operations and the impact of related tools and data flows.

Project Management

  • Serves as a project manager for various projects, ranging from straightforward to highly complex.
  • Acts as a technical authority on large-scale deployments across the organization.
  • Provides technical insights and feedback to internal teams and end users as needed.
  • Develops project schedules and collaborates with management to allocate resources effectively.
  • Balances multiple projects at different stages, ensuring timely progress and coordination with IS team members.

System Administration

  • Maintains application and database backups and security protocols, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Leads system upgrades, patches, and performance tuning in production environments.
  • Monitors application and server performance, offering recommendations for capacity planning.
  • Collaborates with management and IT teams to optimize system environments for effective solutions.
  • Administers Filemaker Pro while transitioning enterprise data to alternative solutions.

Application Support and Testing

  • Provides advanced support for Institute applications and data sources.
  • Enhances application testing processes through collaboration with team members.
  • Trains colleagues on automated testing technologies.
  • Responds to end-user issues, ensuring clear communication and resolution.
  • Updates stakeholders on project developments and application changes as necessary.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in data integrations, ETL, or data warehousing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with software testing practices and automation tools.
  • Proficient in structured project management methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, with an advanced degree preferred.
