About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cake Decorator to join our team at Metcalfe's Market. As a key member of our bakery department, you will be responsible for creating visually stunning cakes and other sweet treats that exceed our customers' expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decorate cakes, cookies, and other baked goods to meet production schedules and customer requests.
  • Assist in baking and frying duties as assigned.
  • Price, date, wrap, and/or bag bakery products to ensure they are properly prepared for sale.
  • Rotate and merchandise bakery shelves, cases, and displays to maintain a visually appealing environment.
  • Notify the Bakery Manager when products and supplies need to be ordered.
  • Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
  • Assist in receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise.
  • Develop a strong understanding of all products carried in the department, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
  • Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers to enhance sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department at all times.
  • Follow all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Safety Guidelines.
  • Follow all Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations.
  • Follow Guest Experience Guidelines.
  • May be assigned tasks in other departments as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands

May be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The associate is required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and may bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to a typical retail store environment (varied temperatures) and is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
