JOB TITLE: Associate Research Scientist

Location: Seattle, WA (100% Onsite)

Duration: 12 months initial (potential extension/potential right to hire)

Key Qualifications:


• Extensive experience with HPLC/UPLC methodologies.


• Proficiency in nanoparticle characterization techniques such as DLS, MALS-FFF, NTA, and encapsulation efficiency.


• Background in mammalian cell-based assays, including flow cytometric analyses.


• Familiarity with ELISA techniques.


• Knowledge of downstream purification processes for biological molecules (AKTA, chromatography, TFF, viral filtration, etc.).

The Associate Scientist will be a part of the Gene Delivery and Editing Process Development (GDEPD) division, contributing to the analytical development for the production and characterization of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) and process-related residuals, essential for advancing Eclaro's innovative cell therapies.

This role involves collaboration with the LNP Platform Development team, focusing on initiatives aimed at enhancing next-generation LNP platform capabilities with an emphasis on gene editing technologies. The associate will gain expertise in developing and executing analytical assays for LNP characterization while becoming acquainted with LNP process development methodologies. Additionally, there will be opportunities to engage with various gene editing technologies and collaborate with diverse teams involved in different aspects of process development.

Responsibilities:


• Execute and troubleshoot analytical assays for LNP characterization (HPLC/UPLC, DLS, fluorescence-based methods, etc.).


• Assist in designing and evaluating new analytical development assays for LNPs.


• Establish protocols for analytical assays.


• Manage sample flow, data, and analyses effectively.


• Optimize workflows for assessing LNP attributes.


• Participate actively in lab maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Maintain comprehensive and accurate laboratory documentation.


• Summarize and present findings in group meetings, contributing to team discussions and strategies.


• Author technical reports, protocols, and study memos.

Basic Qualifications:


• STEM degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience; title and compensation will be aligned with education, experience, and skillset.


• Demonstrated expertise in HPLC/UPLC.


• Experience with nanoparticle characterization techniques.


• Self-motivated with strong teamwork capabilities.


• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.


• Ability to utilize literature and resources to solve complex problems.


• Eagerness to explore and advance innovative solutions.


• Growth mindset and adaptability in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:


• Degree in biological or chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a related field.


• Experience with mammalian cell-based assays.


• Familiarity with ELISA techniques.


• Knowledge of downstream purification processes for biological molecules.


• Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques.


• Experience in the production and purification of LNPs.
