As a key member of the Maintenance Electronics team, the Automation Systems Engineer will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive controls engineering support to enhance manufacturing processes. The focus will be on optimizing production efficiency and cost-effectiveness while adhering to established financial and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the operation of the Siemens PLC control system, ensuring it functions efficiently and meets predefined quality and budgetary standards. Participate in an extensive training program to gain a thorough understanding of the electrical engineering requirements associated with PLC Siemens, while effectively utilizing company support systems. Ensure that plant and equipment remain operational year-round, providing essential support to manufacturing while adhering to budget constraints and timelines. Assist in the planning, installation, and commissioning of equipment as necessary, while monitoring performance metrics. Collaborate with the engineering and stores management to maintain an adequate supply of essential spare parts. Support capital project planning and installation when requested. Manage all engineering aspects of Siemens control systems, including PLC Siemens (Simatic S7-1500), HMI Siemens WinCC, and variable frequency drives, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation. Organize the planning, maintenance, and modifications of control systems to enhance operational efficiency. Provide insights and recommendations aimed at improving plant efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Foster effective communication and collaboration with team members across the organization. Attend meetings as required, which may include occasional travel. Commit to ongoing professional development, ensuring skills remain current and relevant. Maintain clear communication with management regarding operational issues, adhering to established reporting protocols. Work collaboratively within a team to achieve optimal plant utilization and efficiency. Promote awareness of safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. Ensure that all operations are conducted safely, with prompt reporting of any incidents or hazards. Maintain an organized administrative system for documentation accuracy. Facilitate induction and safety training for new personnel or visitors as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Practical experience with automation hardware and software. Familiarity with PLC control system architecture and field control devices, preferably Siemens. Strong ability to interpret electrical diagrams. Experience with online code monitoring, modification, and development. Background in automation control system start-ups, loop tuning, and troubleshooting. Preferred training and certification from Siemens. Programming experience with PLC Siemens (Simatic S7-1500), HMI Siemens WinCC, and variable frequency drives is advantageous.
