About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our team at Egger. As a key member of our Maintenance department, you will be responsible for providing a total controls engineering service to our manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the PLC Siemens control system to operate efficiently and effectively to predetermined and agreed standards, and within budgetary constraints and quality standards.
  • Undertake a comprehensive training program to understand every aspect of the Electrical engineering requirements within PLC Siemens, and operate the company support systems to ensure they are properly used and maintained.
  • Ensure the plant and equipment is fully operational and meets production requirements 365 days per year, and provide support to the manufacturing areas while meeting budgetary requirements and within agreed timescales.
  • Assist with planning, installation, and commissioning of equipment as required, and monitor equipment performance.
  • Ensure a suitable availability of required essential spare parts through liaison with the engineering manager and stores manager.
  • Assist when requested with capital project planning and installation.
  • Coordinate all control system engineering aspects of Siemens, involving PLC Siemens (Simatic S7-1500), HMI Siemens WinCC, VFD (variable frequency drives: Sinamics, SEW, Lenze), while ensuring compliance with standards and current legislation.
  • Organize the planning, maintenance, and modifications of control systems.
  • Provide recommendations to improve plant and efficiency, along with cost effectiveness.
  • Communicate and cooperate with other group personnel as required.
  • Attend meetings as part of the normal duties, including occasional trips abroad.
  • Demonstrate professional development by keeping skills up to date and providing evidence of continuing development.
  • Communicate effectively with the Management team in relation to all aspects of the operations, ensuring all issues are communicated in a timely and efficient manner and following established reporting procedures.
  • Operate as a member of a team to achieve optimum plant utilization and efficiency.
  • Promote Safety, Health, Environmental, and quality awareness.
  • Ensure that the operation and related tasks are conducted in a safe working manner and that any incidents/accidents and hazards are duly reported.
  • Maintain an orderly administrative system for the section, ensuring accuracy in all documentation.
  • Ensure induction and safety training for new starters or visitors as required.

Requirements

  • Technical hands-on ability relating to automation hardware and software.
  • Understanding of PLC control system architecture and field control devices Siemens preferred, but other will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of electrical diagrams.
  • Online code monitoring, modification, and development.
  • Experience in automation control system start-ups, loop tuning, troubleshooting.
  • Training and certification from Siemens is preferred.
  • Programming experience preferably PLC Siemens (Simatic S7-1500), HMI Siemens WinCC, VFD (variable frequency drives: Sinamics, SEW, Lenze).
