Paving Foreperson Job Description

H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled Paving Foreperson to lead our road construction team in Hazleton, PA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for directing the activities of workers involved in paving roads and highways.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Read and interpret blueprints and job-related documents to plan and execute paving operations
  • Record daily events in a job diary to track progress and identify areas for improvement
  • Schedule materials, equipment, and work for the crew to ensure efficient and safe operations
  • Analyze crew Site Inspection Plans (SIPs) to create site-specific SIPs
  • Obtain quantities from crews and prepare for billing with the Project Manager
  • Analyze cost reports to adjust production and optimize resource allocation
  • Accurately code and control onsite costs to ensure transparency and accountability
  • Conduct site meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and safety protocols
  • Attend job turnover meetings to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with crew members, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure a positive and productive work environment
Requirements:
  • PennDot road construction experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with probability, statistical inference, and geometric concepts
  • Basic computer skills, including internet, email, and documentation using digital cameras
  • Demonstrated leadership and dependability
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of relevant PennDot road construction experience
  • Supervisory or crew foreman experience
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
