Paving Foreperson Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paving Foreperson to lead our road construction team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for directing the activities of workers involved in paving roads and highways.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Read and interpret blueprints and job-related documents
  • Record daily events in job diary
  • Schedule materials, equipment, and work for the crew
  • Analyze crew SIPs to create site SIPs
  • Obtain quantities from crews and prepare for billing process with PM
  • Analyze cost reports for production adjustments
  • Accurately code and control onsite costs
  • Conduct site meetings
  • Attend job turnover meetings
  • Communicate goals and purposes effectively
  • Lead by example
  • Influence and enforce company values, recognize misalignments, and ensure compliance
  • Understand and anticipate customer needs
  • Understand business practices within the organization and the importance of repeat business
  • Communicate with customer representatives and represent the company professionally
Requirements:
  • PennDot road construction experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with probability, statistical inference, and the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Basic computer skills, including internet, email, and documentation using digital cameras
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Demonstrated dependability and punctuality
  • Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of relevant PennDot road construction experience
  • Supervisory or crew foreman experience
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
