Key Responsibilities

As a Landing Gear Systems Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, integration, verification, and validation of landing gear subsystems. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing mechanical engineering principles and design software to develop comprehensive mechanical design concepts that are robust, low-risk, and cost-effective.
  • Detailing the design of landing gear components and airframe interfaces, collaborating closely with various departments.
  • Identifying potential risks and swiftly developing prototypes and testing methods to mitigate these risks.
  • Understanding project scope, specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements for the components being developed.
  • Participating in integration and coordination activities with departments, suppliers, and certification authorities.
  • Conducting additional analyses as necessary to ensure compliance with all project and production requirements.
  • Designing and coordinating the construction of an Iron Bird lab for testing landing gear systems.
  • Generating essential documentation, including CAD solid models, engineering drawings, test plans, and compliance documentation.
  • Supporting fabrication and assembly processes as required.
  • Providing regular updates to the Project Manager regarding project execution, schedule, financial status, and scope changes.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:
  • A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the development of Part 25 landing gear systems, hydraulic systems, or other critical aircraft systems.
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and the ability to conceptualize and create innovative mechanical designs.
  • Proficiency in solid modeling CAD design software, with a preference for Siemens NX.
