Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Nurse to join our team at DuPage County ROE. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough medical histories for referred and identified students, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Administer medications as necessary, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all students, including immunizations and physical examinations.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding illnesses or accidents at school.
  • Collaborate with teachers, teacher assistants, and other specialists to develop and implement individualized plans for students with medical needs.
  • Provide health education and instruction to students, aligning with District and state-approved curriculum.
  • Establish a safe and supportive learning environment, promoting social and emotional development.
  • Enforce and support school policies, philosophies, and objectives, ensuring a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and staff training to stay current with best practices and new strategies.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in School Nursing (K-12) and demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

This position will be based in a school setting, with potential travel required between buildings. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
