Position Overview

Organization: Sutter Health

Role Summary:

The Registered Nurse II in the Emergency Department is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, coordination, and delivery of nursing care. This includes direct patient interaction, education for patients and their families, and facilitating smooth transitions of care within an acute care environment. The nurse will provide holistic and personalized care to all patients within their designated area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a care plan that considers psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with patients, their families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals through effective communication.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and relevant laws to ensure an optimal patient experience.

Educational Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of practice.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification for Emergency Department.
  • ENPC - Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (if required, within 180 days).
  • NIHSS - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (within 90 days).
  • TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course (if required, within 180 days of hire).

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department within the last 5 years.

Work Schedule:

This position requires night shifts, with a full-time commitment of 36 hours per week. Weekend work is expected every other weekend.
